Whittlemania is back to build more homes!
March 13, 2008
How can eating at Toot’s build homes?
The answer is simple, Whittlemania turns sweet 16! For the 16th year in a row, Toot’s is partnering with Whittlemania to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. Throughout the month of March you may buy $5 tickets for Toot’s or Demos’ that are redeemable for up to $7 value in meals. April 1st-30th, Toot’s tickets may be used at the Murfreesboro or Smyrna locations and Demos’ tickets are for the Murfreesboro location.
This is Habitat for Humanity’s largest fund raiser of the year and Toot’s is proud to be a sponsor of this campaign again. “We plan to help raise over $20,000 this year and that will help build homes for people in need in our community,” says Wade Hays, Toot’s owner. Toot’s is planning to sell 2,000 tickets and the Tennessee restaurants will also donate the money they have raised from candy sales.
Whittlemania’s namesake is Dan Whittle, a retired reporter/columnist for The Daily News Journal. Mr. Whittle worked with Toot’s owner Wade Hays to start this great fund raiser. Since inception this fundraiser has helped build over 15 homes in Middle Tennessee.
As in past years, tickets can be purchased at The Daily News Journal office at the corner of Lytle and Walnut streets in Murfreesboro, through Habitat board members and volunteers, and at the Habitat for Humanity offices and ReStore at 850 Mercury Blvd.
Toot’s in the community
In addition to supporting Habitat through Whittlemania, Toot’s proudly helped raise $150,000 for the Rutherford County Boys & Girls Club by donating 530 burger and 140 steak dinners at the 21st Annual Steak & Burger dinner on February 26th.
February was also a big month for the United Way when the Toot’s Super Bowl Bash in Murfreesboro and Smyrna raised $3,700 for the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties. “It’s a privilege to be a part of such outstanding communities and as Murfreesboro’s oldest full-service restaurant we enjoy giving back,” says Wade.
